The first round of Go4IT produced four awards – one of which was to North Somerset Training.
We were delighted to present North Somerset Training with a number of tablet computers with keyboard attachments and mobile WiFi to help them deliver a mobile service throughout North Somerset.
North Somerset Training
North Somerset Training is a not-for-profit community interest company that has been set up by Ivi Paduim-Quan. Its main purpose is to help the residents of North Somerset to gain IT skills that are necessary for modern day living.
It is also partnered with UK Online Centres, provides City and Guilds qualifications and is also approved by the British Computer Society.
As well as these affiliations, North Somerset Training also works with North Somerset Council to help more vulnerable users to access IT equipment and learn how to gain skills. Many of the other courses that are provided are varying levels of competence, from the complete novice to those with more rudimentary skills. Activities that take place in classes include how to set up and use email, how to perform job searches and how to do internet searches.
What the Go4IT Award will do
North Somerset Training is working in partnership with Liberata to provide a mobile service to help people gain access to IT provision when getting help and claiming benefits online (e.g. housing benefit and council tax support). This scheme will be particularly important as there are areas in North Somerset where public IT provision is either low, restrictive or lacks the required amount of user support.
What can Go4IT do for you?
The next closing date is 22nd May. Find out more here.
